Enduring Hell
The irony here is that your ability to endure is directly correlated with your ability to surrender.

Hell is of your own making.
It’s windy, hot as hell, there are hills, granular road surfaces, you’ve lost track of your pacing, your data is going south, and the challenge is going north… what are you gonna do?
The irony here is that your ability to endure is directly correlated with your ability to surrender.
I kid you not….
That sounds counterintuitive… but when we relinquish control and redirect our energy back into focus, we regain our power to cope and respond.
So much energy is wasted in resistance. Our addiction to control causes many athletes to implode. When reality doesn’t meet the plan… the plan is no longer a strategy… it’s dead weight.
Jesus, right now we are literally teaching ourselves to be control freaks. That neural pathway you built to control everything isn’t going to down-regulate when the environment gets wild and woolly.
Look, I’m not suggesting you throw your data out with the bathwater. I’m suggesting you learn how to fall into sync with what is.
Deal with reality first, data second.
What options do you have when things get wild? Where’s your power?
When you can’t control what’s out there… and you can’t… your power lies in your ability to settle yourself.
Let the f..k go of control. Surrender to what is… that’s power.
Surrender to what is out there, so you can empower what is in here.
Reactivity is made of resistance….
Response can only come from the one who is settled in the face of whatever is coming up.
I know most people don’t want to hear this because it puts the responsibility back where it belongs… with the athlete.
It’s actually got nothing to do with the conditions. It’s all about how we surrender, let go of control, accept the cards we’re dealt, and play them with power… not defence.
The change you want to make is in teaching yourself how to respond, not how to control. That happens in training every day.
Watch your need for control and your resistance. They are toxins.
Control is a wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing.
