For The Win

Race week is about keeping it as simple as possible. That means keeping your head out of the trough. Out of thoughts of what you didn't get done and paradoxically out of what you did get done.
That’s right, it’s time to let it all go.
Its really about an emptiness that you carry in race week, a lack of expectation, a lack of forecasting and just staying put with where you are in each moment because thats all the power you have, anything else is a bleed that you can't afford.
This is important in race week because it sets up race day. Think of race day as a void. It’s a vacuum of possibility driven by the energy that you feed into it. If you feed into race day with thoughts, expectations, regrets, worry and doubt, you are on the back foot and in a state of defence rather than in a state of attack.
A state of attack and readiness is not a tension, it’s a relaxation.
It’s a type of emptiness, and really, the only way you can react to anything with power is to stay in a state of conscious flow. The second you resist is the second you move out of your power, both in the days before the race and in the race itself.
Reality is empty of content!
Optimal pre-race arousal and focus is at its peak though feeling the energy but staying out of judgment.
Being empty of thoughts is a good way of setting up the potential. The mind of thought scans the feelings in the body and detects nervousness as a threat which can trigger doubt and the doubt creates fear.
So the upshot here is to constantly remind yourself to relax in race week, to let go, to surrender to the feelings, stay out of judgment and stay off assessment.
Don’t make a thought of a feeling. This is easier said than done, I know, but the gentle guidance of your mind back to the present moment and back to the acceptance of what you are feeling is the practise that will serve your energy best and keep you in alignment with why you came here in the first place.
To Race!
