Death By A Thousand Cuts

Death By A Thousand Cuts

Training Insights

Pain produces speed. Speed produces pain. They’re twins.

Pain is the currency you trade for speed.

If you aren’t free with your pain, you won’t be free with your speed.

Subtle and Simple. We train for speed. We rarely train for pain.

So you hit your pace, your goal, your limit… and speed hits back. It asks you for the fare to ride the speed. The fare is pain. You’ve only got five bucks. The fare is ten. You scrounge for loose change. You fade. You jog home dejected.

Writing cheques your body can’t cash.

And it keeps happening.

Death by a thousand cuts!

I’ve been there. Legs trembling, lungs burning, mind begging me to stop ….speed in my hands, but not the pain I needed to hold it.

I’d show up thinking I was ready. But I wasn’t. Not fully.

Here’s the truth:

Pain produces speed. Speed produces pain. They’re twins.

You can’t have one without the other.

It’s about pain management.

If you can’t manage pain, you can’t manage speed.

Ignore pain and you’ll overcook speed — every time.

So what’s the practice?

Expand into pain as you rise into speed.

Invite both. Relax into the burn. Open, don’t close. Expand, don’t contract. Accept, don’t resist.

Ask yourself: where are you trying to go fast without paying the fare?

What cheques are you writing that your body can’t cash?

Pain isn’t punishment. It’s tuition.

And speed? Speed is the degree you earn when you learn the lesson.

When you invite speed, you are inviting pain….don’t slam the door in resistance.

Because what you resist… persists.
