There’s this idea that we shouldn’t be seen to begin. And that’s where the real trouble starts.
I should be better!
It begins with the fear of being seen to fail — a shit lesson most of us were taught as kids. Get it right. Don’t mess it up. The consequences are dire.
Bullshit.
There’s nothing more beautiful than the beginning of something.
The innocence of starting fuels curiosity, and curiosity fuels growth. That will take you infinitely further than the fear of being seen to fail.
But we project this toxic idea that it needs to be perfect, that we need to be “ready,” that it all has to look tidy.
What are you waiting for?
Here’s the truth:
It’s fucking messy.
Perfect and tidy is a myth. You start, you suck… get over it.
Stay curious and you’ll get better. If you don’t, you’ll just get bitter.
Stay true to yourself or you’ll be dictated to by everyone else. Busy chasing the “best practices,” plans and strategies of others, you’ll forget yourself in the process.
Trying to make it look perfect is fundamentally flawed. You’re alive. There’s energy running through you that you need to harness.
This is energetics 101:
What energy are you bringing? Are you open and curious? Or shut down and self-judgmental?
Embarrassment and failure aren’t enemies — they’re requirements. If you fear failure, you’ll fear success. That’s the double-edged sword you keep cutting yourself with.
So be foolish. Throw caution to the wind. Stay curious. Stop trying to control everything — it’s strangling your potential.
The fear doesn’t come from failure or success. It comes from the obsession with control.
Let go. Stay curious. Stay in the wonder. Bring that energy to every session, and you’ll carry it into the race by default.
And when shit gets messy — because it will — you’ll be ready.
